From Steampowered.com:
Since release, we've received a ton of feedback and feature requests from the Alien Swarm community. The most requested additions are more variety and greater difficulty.
With that in mind, we've added "Onslaught" mode, which introduces an AI Director that dynamically generates swarms of aliens based on several factors, such as the squad's stress level. Onslaught works with any difficulty setting and ensures no mission plays the same way twice.
Speaking of difficulty, we've also added a "Brutal" difficulty level for those of you who told us "Insane" wasn't insane enough. How brutal is Brutal? Nobody on the Alien Swarm team has managed to complete a mission on it.
If for some crazy reason Brutal is still too easy for you,…

It seems like most of the pages are locked to editting. Is there any reason in particular for this and will it be opened eventually to editting by others? Moochmaker 21:45, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, yeah, that's a play on Stephen King's novel, Needful Things. Not a particularly clever one, either, I must admit. So sue me. ^_^
Right, so ... this will be an intermittent "RantBlog" about behaviors, features, and so on that I absolutely hate, and/or that irk and irritate me to the point of deciding to go play something else. It may or may not be restricted to Alien Swarm, but I'll at least try to make AS the majority player. ^_^
This installment's subject: players afflicted by Hyperactive Stupidity Disorder (HSD).
I hate them. Truly, seriously hate them.
HSD has many expressions, but the two most common ones are Run-run-run. go-go-go, HEY WHERE ARE YOU GUYS ... and OMG the wall moved! BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM ...!!.
Or, in less amusingl…

Just wondering if there's any group/clan out there that organizes Speed Run sessions. It's pretty much impossible to do them on pubs.

Any thoughts on adding all the individual PDA contents to the wiki?
Similar to all the Bioshock Audio Diaries.
I know they're not as crucial to the story here, but still interesting enough.

We have exciting news! Your wiki has been chosen to receive Achievement Awards. They are brand new, super fun, and not everyone is getting them, so congratulations!
The Awards will help encourage people to make more edits and contribute to the wiki. They also help brand new people get a feel for what they can do on the wiki. Awards are only available for logged-in users, so they’ll help encourage people to log in when they’re making edits.
So what does this mean for you? More people editing on the wiki, more friends, more help, more content, and more fun!
Admins will be able to customize the names and photos used in the awards so that they fit your community to a T. And the awards appear automatically, so there's no extra work that needs to b…

I recommend that anybody interested in learning how to get good at Alien Swarm and other tactical shooters refer to the US Army Field Manual for Combined Arms Operations In Urban Terrain. Specifically it jumps to Chapter 3, Section III: Clearing . I suggest reading most of this section because I believe it's very relevant to the tactics necessary to survive Alien Swarm.
NOTE: The Wikia editor seems to be failing miserably when it comes to adding external links. Search for "us army urban terrain field guide", should be a secondary link on the Global Security site. I shall try editing this later to add the link.
I first found out about this manual during my days as a Rainbow Six: Raven Shield player. It describes the four person fire team and …
